Kondopoga Timber Company, Russia
Since 1994, Hartley has been an active investor in Russia, through its experienced
local partners and subsidiaries. In addition to property developments,
Hartley owns the majority share-holding in Kondopoga Timber Company, an
operation which spans 3,000 sq kilometres of spruce, pine, birch and aspen
forest in Karelia, and sustainably produces over 200,000 m³ of timber a
year, providing employment for over 200 local people.

Bara Bay (Natural Gas), USA
In 1992, through one of its associates, Hartley
invested in 4,000 acres of land in Louisiana, including the oil and mineral
deposits of 1,000/1,500 acres.
Exploration for gas has
been successful and gas is now being produced for commercial sale.

Analytical Specialists Inc. (ASI)
Hartley, together with the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation, owns
a controlling stake in ASI, a technology company founded by Dr Ed Overton
of Louisiana State University. With research grants from the government,
the company has developed the microFAST GC, a revolutionary very fast
temperature programmed gas chromatographic analyzer instrument: typically
10 times faster than previous technologies, yet only the size of a shoebox.
